Every year, we meet to celebrate the art of animation together! Our goal is to inspire the audience, promote artistic expression, and support both emerging and established artists. We strive to create an inclusive platform that highlights the cultural and social impact of animation, fostering dialogue and collaboration within the global community
Our goal is for artists to get in touch with fresh projects and prestigious professionals, so they can better understand the international animation industry. Most of all, the ideal we advocate for annually is accessibility and non-exclusion. The screenings, the workshops and every kind of activity that occurs during the festival, has free entry for all, as there is also access for people with limited mobility. For this reason, every year events are organised at different dates, aside from the festivals, so more people can participate. The TAF team continues to work with passion, so we can create an even bigger, even more entertaining TAF.
Despite being filled with gifted artists, the art of Animation in the wider Balkan region is still developing. Thus, one of our main goals when
founding this festival was to familiarise the audience with this art form. That’s why TAF offers free entrance to all and includes screening blocks specifically dedicated to children, families, and school students. Over the years, we had the honour to have prominent artists as guests, like Rony Oren, Tim Allen, Alejandro Jiménez Asuero and much more. A significant turning point for our festival was the pandemic outbreak. This situation led us to move our content entirely to an international online
platform, allowing us to quickly and easily expand our audience and reach people who would otherwise have difficulty accessing us. After the lifting of the COVID-19 restrictions and until today, our festival has adopted a hybrid format allowing thousands of viewers from all over the world to watch our content.
Since 2020, TAF has been running its own pitching event, inviting artists based in the Balkans to present their in-development projects and compete for awards. The Balkan Animation Forum also serves as a platform where artists can build strong networks with producers and
industry decision-makers. We are very happy to be the intermediaries, enabling so many young artists to gain access to resources that will help them realise their dreams.
